g4321
I'm amazed he didn't get an entry as he did support the event during it's hard times, but then it could just show the ballot is not as fixed as some people think. The question I would ask is why would Duncan need to be in the ballot - there are so many reserved places?
boofont
The question I would ask is why would Duncan need to be in the ballot - there are so many reserved places? I don't think there's that many. Did HL say 50 on another post?
Andy
The question I would ask is why would Duncan need to be in the ballot - there are so many reserved places? Playing devil's advocate - If the ballot is truly a random ballot - which it would appear to be and surely what everybody wants, then why shouldn't he be part of that? As for my personal opinion, I think those who supported the event time after time when it went through its hard times should be in by default. If it wasn't for their continued support the event could easily have died.
highland lassie
I wasn't going to reply to this topic, partly because I've already made my point elsewhere, but mainly because there's no way I'm getting drawn into any debate about specific riders. However, there's one thing I would like to say on the subject. As mentioned in the Rappers forum, we have 50 places for the club to allocate at their discretion - that doesn't just cover those riders who have ridden for many years. These fifty places also have to cover any assistance given to sponsors, committee members, regular observers....the list goes on. I've just checked up on the entries this year and it's worth noting that we had 69 entrants who have ridden more than ten times- that's the figure AFTER excluding all the fly boys who pretend they've ridden for fifteen years in the hope of landing a club place! Even if we chose to give all fifty places to the long-standing riders, we wouldn't have nearly enough. Our only other option would be to extend the number of places allocated by the club and cut the number available to the rest of the world - and I'll leave you to contemplate the uproar that would cause. That's my final word on the subject - it's starting to get boring now.
Andy
The boss has spoken and trust me, she's scary enough to obey... However, have you got over the problem with Spaniards submitting multiple entries with the "if you submit enough entries under multiple names then you're bound to get in to mythical trial" approach? highland lassie
Not had one of them for the past three years!
bigfoot
I didn't comment on this post to start a fight about one rider so please dont read anything else in to it. I truly dont know where I sit on the matter. People like Duncan have I think become important to the event and its a shame he wont be riding but fresh blood needs to get a chance too.
