It was quite boggy at low revs, and on long climbs, and while travelling between sections i was leaving huge trails of smoke behind, it got quite embarassing does this sound like carb? i cleaned it new air filter fitted im running 70ml to 5lt mix the mixture screw is at 1 turn out plug gap 23 thou . When i got back and checked the plug it was really black not oily but dry any suggestions the carbs a delorto thanks Gary
schweizmeister
Sounds like a knackered crankcase oil seal. Gearbox oil is being drawn into the crankcase and burned causing the smoke and making the plug black.
sectionone
When I bought my used 95 Section it ran too rich the same way. I cleaned the carb by taking it apart and soaking overnight in cleaning solvent. Make sure you take out the tiny jet underneath the idle jet. I put in a leaner main jet and tried different needle settings and now it runs fine. Also clean out the exhaust system. lee harris
The o-ring on the cold start jet could be buggered. Take the carb lid of and its the long thing sticking out in the rear corner. Also both my sections I jetted down and as the man said clean the exhaust. Did you get a rear box inthe end, you can drill out the rivets and repack the silencer. If it runs ok i think the crank seal would be ok. Check for fuel in the oil and watch the level before stripping. Also, only very lightly oil the oil filter..squeezable wet could be too much Lee
