Standing Position On Bike

Hey Guys,

I'm 6ft 3.

If i stand up straight on my 4RT i can't hold on to the bars - have to bend forward to grab them properly.

Just been watching a Trial at my local club - all the experts seem to be able to stand completely straight up and hold the bars without bending. This seems to help them "manhandle" the bike over the rocks etc

I have the "highest" Renthal bars...

Does it matter in the slightest? Should i / can i get "extenders" that will bring the bars towards me and what is the correct setup?

Jza :hyper:

In a Mick Andrews video he made reference to a taller rider being slightly disadvantage with his height and he recommended higher bars. I'm not as tall as you but i raised my bars on my Gas Gas because i felt they were a little low - see picture below

i use to find that with my bars striaght up or at 90 degrees to the floor that my back would hurt after a while riding so i moved the bars forward abit which seems to be alot better but really it depends on what feels comfortable to you and doesn`t hurt you. the risers will probably help you out quite a bit as they will be making the bars higher so you dont have to crouch as much to reach the bars

LOOK AT GEOFF AARON! HE'S A GORILLA! BUT STANDING ON THE BIKE YOU SHOULD BEND AT THE KNEES TO SUIT YOUR HEIGHT, I'VE NEVER SAW ANYONE RIDE STRAIGHT LEGGED, UNLESS A FIRST TIMER, ANY ALTERATIONS YOU MAKE TO THE BARS COMPROMISES THE BALANCE OF THE BIKE,

Jza, I'm 6ft 1in and I have tall fat bars with 3/8in risers. I ride with my back strait but my knees are bent outward so the bike can work under me. I bet if you watch those top riders again their knees are bent and they are standing upright.
