Andy
Okay, even if it is still open and available, now is not the time for complacency. You can't just sit back and think all is fine and will be from now on. There will no doubt be some other individual or group come along probably sooner rather than later and want to shut it down. I still think the tree thing is a good idea. Many motoring groups and car clubs are now looking at this purely in terms of carbon off-setting. jimw
Hi again, I promised I'd post with the counsellor's reply ( as of 21 3 2007) - forgot to do so but better late than never. I don't know if things have moved on or not but I did ask him to update with any new developments. He does at least sound supportive. "I am aware of this issue and have recently spoken to the landowner about the current state of play. As I understand it the issue is about a legal change of use of the land from agriculture this can be achieved in one of two ways either by applying for a certificate of lawful use or by obtaining planning permission. The latter may be problematic since this is in the greenbelt. The landowner applied for a certificate of lawful use but this was not granted. The landowner had a right of appeal but has not done so as yet. This is a good resource, the situation is being investigated to see if there is a solution which will allow the landowner to continue." telecat
Interesting!!! Flappits is "common" land that Bradford council have been trying to close for Years. However the fact it is "Common" land makes it impossible to shut. They are going to try again but it does not look good for the council despite the death of a Quad bike rider yesterday.
