darrelltaylor
Hi all, I get my new 1996 Aprilia Climber next weekend and it seems there hard to find information, advice and parts for. Can anyone point me into the right direction where i might get any info on these bikes from? Also i have a TY250R and the clutch basket has had a prong snapped off, can i still use it or does it need replacing? Thanks all;
nathanharold1987
Hi, i have the same bike, aprilia climber 280. Parts are a nightmare to get, another thing is they have a poor kickstart knuckle so you need to keep tightening it, i take an allan key with me when i use my bike. the bike uses a rotax engine, and any parts needed for the engine can be got from the rotax man, http://www.rotax.co.uk/, who will post any parts you may need, also priced reasonably. the forks have gone on my bike so i am currently looking for some. They are a good bike but as you said, parts and info and few and far between, great bike tho. hope that helped a little Edited March 12, 2007 by nathanharold1987

mattylad
For parts try Rathmall's, Stevens Trials Centre, and DMS trialsport. I have bought from all in the past.
peterb
Hi Darell, Regarding your TY250 clutch basket prong breaking off - you may be able to repair this. I've done a few baskets on other bikes in the past. Usually the prong breaks off almost flush with the rear of the basket. Carefully mark the prong hole centre on the basket and drill out the basket for either a 4mm or 6mm clearence hole - I don't know the ID of the thread of the TY prong - most likely 6mm. Countersink the basket hole at the rear and then drill and tap out the bottom of the prong to 6mm. (Sometimes you can continue the thread from the top of the prong) Use a countersunk allen screw with loctite and attach the prong back to the case. Job done. Usually last well with no problems. Bye, PeterB.
