svleigh
An average clubman rider is thinking of buy a 4rt. With all the deals and such like available and waiting times for some models. Those in the know, which year and which model would be best to buy? and why? e.g. 2005...cheap to buy and good piece of kit 2006...re-worked engine, easier to start 2007................etc is the extra money better spent on after market stuff, like the Mitani gear any help most appreciated Leigh
furse
I used to have a 2005 4RT, It started fine even by pushing it over with your hand once it was warm. Never had any problems with oil e.t.c. Personally I would not bother with replica's having differnet mapping and all that. The standard bike is fine for any rider up to British Expert standard. gii
I'd recommend buying one of the remaining 2005 bikes and spending a bit of the cash left over on a 315 Clutch M/C, Mitani bash plate & clutch plates, and a V-Mar sprocket guard. You'll spend a lot less that way and have as good a bike (IMHO). Personally I'm unable to tell the difference riding a 2005 to riding a 2006 though I'll admit I'm not known for my sensitivity. But, when you come to sell, even if its in a months time and the bike is still like new, it's a 2005 bike, not a 2007 bike.

perce
On a pre 07 bike I'd always add an adjustable throttle body in a softer mode than standard just to take the edge off it, makes the bike much easier to ride. 07 bike is quite a lot different though & is a lot smoother straight out of the box.
