scott_king
Hi all I expect this has come up many times before but I bent my trusty renthal bars and I am considering what to replace them with. I am considering moving to pro taper bars but I am unsure of there quality and riding position. I prefer the pro taper bars on my YZF250 to the renthals on the YZ250. The renthals on the TY has the same effect as those on the YZ in making my right hand go numb after about 20 minutes. I am unsure if it is the type of bike or my riding position that has more effect on this rather than the make of bars. I know that most of bar choice is down to rider preference but hopefully your advice will help me select a set. Basically I need to know the following: What bars will fit a 1989 TY250? What bar may limit my hand numbing? What bar will be strong enough to take punishment? Thanks in advance Scott
barrybaines
Unlike Barry i don't bend mine often so have no need to change... I'll have you know I haven't bent any bars for months now!!! (famous last words) But Renthalls did seem too bend very easy, Scott I don't know if your bar clamps are one peice with the top clamp or seperate items? if they are seperate perhaps a set of fat bars and clamps could be an idea? I know a few people don't like the feel of them but IMO they seem too take a lot of stress away from my wrists and forearms? either that or I'm just getting stronger wrists Edited April 23, 2007 by barrybaines
neil le clean
By far the best bars you can get are Joshua Tetley ones, they provide the competiter with a more relaxed posture
shercrazy
fat bars are the way! they seem to flex and obsorb some shock, i got a pair and my wrists are a lot less pumped after riding, and they are very strong! i've put them to the test many times and they don't budge! you can also get adapter kits to use them on just about any bike!..........................john
jimbo
I met a guy this past weekend at Sequatchee in Tennessee and he had a set of Fatbars on a Sherco 2.9. He had a lever proctector/barkbuster setup I've never seen before. It required special bar clamps because it mounted at the bar ends on one end and was secured in the middle by a bolt that went into the front side of the bar clamp. good looking setup, but being a trials newbie, i haven't the foggiest if if was "da bomb" or "da dudd". Still, for all the trees and rocks here in the Southeaster US, I think I'd like to install a set, if I could remember who manufacturered the piece that is.....
