jona
Hi, Does anyone know of a wheel builder in the midlands or surrounding areas ? Also Can I just strip the spokes off my wheels and hubs myself or is there a knack to it ? Gonna get em powdercoated . Many Thanks Jon
fivemeister
Jon Have a look at these people. Lots of advice on the website, but if I were you Id let the wheelbuilder dismantle it as there are some measurements (spoke lengths / offset etc) that they will need to rebuild it to original spec so it will sit in the frame properly when complete. http://www.central-wheel.co.uk/cwc/wheelbu...ing_details.htm Mark
jona
Thanks for that Mark. I know Central Wheel Components pretty well as they built the wheels on my mates MX bike. They are my last resort due to price.
marky boy
Presumably then the reason he has dissapeared maybe that he went bust eh, charging as little as that?? Strip your wheels yerself, its dead easy. Just run a straight edge across your rim on both sides and measure the distance from the straight edge to the hub. This will determine your offset, as you strip the spokes , either seperate or make a note which spokes came from which side. If you are not planning on doing the hubs and just the rims then undo the nipples and leave all the spokes in place in the hub and just pull out from the rim. I have done this many times when just doing my own rims without the hubs!!
