skid
who has some experience with these helmets? Trials helmets are very rare in the states. You can't ride down to the local dealer and try some on. I recently got an nzi through the mail and am wondering about the fit. My head measures right on the border between large and medium. I went with the large because I tried on a road bike helmet that was a large and it was a little tight. So I get this nzi and the thing is huge. I put it on and I look like kazoo from the jetsons. It looks way too big. However it fits kinda snug on my head. If i move it front to back it seems to hold my head pretty well. If i wobble it side to side it seems to rock on my head a bit, i.e. helmet is loose enough that it is moving on my head, not holding onto my head and moving together with my head. It don't feel so snug going side to side, but feels pretty good going front to back. wtf!! I call the distributor and he says that kind of the way trials helmet are. Unlike mx fullcoverage hats, you don't have those big cheeks pads so the helmet may look like it doesn't fit. He said if it feels good going front to back you are good to go. Word up!! Does this sound kosher?? I know all helmets vary a bit and some heads work better than others in certain makes. Whats up with these helmets?? After a full face MX helmet, most specialist trials helmets will feel like this. For the fit you are probably expecting, you will need to use a regular open face road helmet. I've tried this option and although you feel more secure, you can't hear what the engine is doing and I found that I got way too hot. I suppose the fact is, that you don't need the same level of high speed protection when riding trials.

No doubt that trials helmets don't look the same, on your head, as a road helmet, or full face offroad helmet. But, the side to side wobble, versus front to back, etc. is all a function of how the company designs the foam and liner. You just may not be able to get an NZI to fit your head, while another brand may be fine. I have had NZI, Yes, and now Shiro, and they all fit differently. I am most happy with the fit of my Shiro, as it is more like a headband, and secure all the way around. But, everybody's head shap is different, so you just have to experiment. city trials
Real life Gazoo looking NZI (Spacey Sprocket Approved) headgear.
scorpa3
Not that it makes any difference to riders in the USA but..... NZI helmets are not road legal in the UK, they do not carry the ACU Silver sticker and therefore aren't legal in ACU events. (Just thought that I'd throw that in for discussions sake.) smalley250
I had same issue with nzi helmet 1 carbon and 1 standard. As you say the fit is to wide and feels odd so i gave up with nzi and got hebo lid.

That's pretty funny though, I have never liked the way my NZI helmet looks on me but I love the fit and light weight. I think I look like Jim Carrey when he was riding that mini bike in the movie "Dumb and Dumber".
