charlie prescott
Hi Guys , Hi TRF, Take a look on the Yorkshire Classic web site there are several pictures of Tony Calvert and the Cub on there, and a lot more besides. Regards Charlie.
totalshell
http://yorksclassictrials.co.uk/images/Rog...ubSection6..JPG http://yorksclassictrials.co.uk/images/Caw...ubSection2..JPG feel pretty sure that this would be the bike Tony was riding, he has ridden it for a couple of years at least. I think though that the bike 'lives' in the lake district with the bike that Carlas Casa's rides? http://yorksclassictrials.co.uk/images/Lad...amSection5..JPG http://yorksclassictrials.co.uk/images/Caw...amSection4..JPG on a similar vein this is the bike Jill Driifield rode to a first class award and The Joan Westbrook Trophy on 32 I should credit Barry Pickard with the photos. trickymicky
The Cub Tony was riding was built by John Holmes. Lots of nice features, and a lot of time went in to it. Just one detail of John's handiwork is the cylinder head- it started life as a round one, and John made and welded on every fin, so it has the cooling benefits of a square one. The work is so good you would never be able to tell.. All credit to John, as well as Tony for their success.
mattylad
I had the pleaseure to ride one of Johns bikes a few years ago. I think it was a 270cc. It was brilliant, could not believe it was a pre-65. Really nice guy to boot.
trickymicky
Yes, i had a ride on that too- very nice. Your right, a really decent guy, always helpful. I'm sure he will be really chuffed that Tony's won on it.

trialsrfun
Thank you all for the pictures & info, I could not make it to the trial so it is good to see the bikes that won, the Cub appears to have a very special oil tank/air box assembly and maybe the subframe has been lowered by curving down the horizontal top tubes to give a lower seat height ? in contrast the Bantam looks very std but as ever it is the rider that counts.
