Hi All, I just picked up a 93 TYZ, from what I have read here it's a solid bike. I do however need your help with a few things, a manual, a copy anything please......

The clutch is sticking, I looked at past posts and will try these ideas, my question is how to remove the clutch cover, anything to watch for such as the waterpump drive. Don't want things falling out when I have no manual......

Thanks for your time folks......

Regards Larry(Canada)

The Clutch is stuck all the time, I should have stated that the bike has sat for a few years, I drove it around for a good 10 mins and it still would not release. It feels fine at the clutch lever no stranges sounds. I agree that they will drag, my74 and 85 both do the same until warm...

I do not know much about the TYZ but I am sure it can't be all that bad to free up....

Anyone know what parts such as clutch, brakes and cables may be interchangable with other Yamaha models, parts are a little hard to come by here in Canada...

Regards Larry...

Hi. Excellent bike you have purchased. The engine in your bike is the same as a Scorpa SY 250 which has been in production from 2000.I know a guy who has a 1995 TYZ and my Scorpa engine looks identical parked next to his bike.My clutch cover was holed by a rock and when i took it off to get it alloy welded this was the easiest bike to work on ive ever had.Get into it and seperate the clutch plates so you can get out and RIDE.

Well the clutch release mechanism just releases the pressure from the plates, if it has been stood for that long then the plates can get glued together as it did on one of my Dad's AJSs when he bought it.

Remove the clutch plates, try to unstick them and clean them up, if not buy new plates. I found that using three hacksaw blades together makes it really easy to remove the sticky stuff from between the friction pads.

On my last TY250S the clutch dragged like mad until we cleaned all the ***** off, doesn't drag at all now, my brothers riding it.

Guys thanks for all the great info, Gas Gas thanks for the Scorpa tip I was able to print a copy from the Scorpa site and it is in fact the same motor bolt for bolt.

The clutch was glued tight, with a little work it cleaned up perfect and fell well with in spec based on the Scorpa manual.

With everything back in place I can roll the bike in gear with the engine off, ran out of time today still need to put oil in and give it a real test......

Anyone know if the decals can be had anywhere....

Thanks again for your help on this, I know I will be back for more help....

Regards Larry
