Andy
French Grand Prix at Le Mans Sunday May 20, 2007 MELANDRI COLLECTS USEFUL POINTS HAUL IN DELUGE This was a rain-sodden MotoGP showdown that put nerve and skill at a premium and it was Chris Vermeulen (Suzuki) who showed the required credentials to win from Marco Melandri (Gresini Honda RC212V) with Casey Stoner (Ducati) third. With rain threatening, the lights on the grid went out and a crowd of 74,000 watched with some trepidation as the field barreled into turn one with specks of moisture dotting the competitors
subanator
Having 2x Aussies on the podium is a great site, harking back to earlier times. Well done Chris Vermuellen and Casey Stoner for leading the championship. It was one of the most eventful races I have seen for a long time, the shortened Le Mans track was tight and interesting, the tyre choice equation interesting, the rain affected track - equalising, the pit stop to change bikes almost endurance or F1 style, and rider positions changing every lap either by progress from the afore mentioned or crashing out. Racing was almost like watching a motorcross or supercross event due to the continued change of events. Well done to all riders, as that would have been very trying in those conditions. the addict
Cracking races,125 - 250 and MotoGP. Great to see Vermin win one, he will always remember yesterday for the rest of his life, not many get the chance to win at that level no matter how long they compete. Best ride of the day though, young Bradley thought he might go for the win later in the race but looked like he settled for a safe third (Wise choice) should give him the lift to be at the top week in week out from now on. Locatelli made a very, very brave return after horrendous injuries only a few weeks ago, nearly had his foot amputated and major facial reconstruction , good luck for the next round
