In owning 3 other trial bikes previously, (and some of them much older than this one), I never faced this problem. The shaft has no dent or mark whatsoever. It gets wet from oil just by hopping the bike. I clean it, hop on the bike and you see it gets messy again. Not a major leak, but there should be none at all. I guess it’s a matter of replacing a defective seal, but I know it’s not something you can do without the proper tools and expertise… - Do you think any suspension shop would be able to work on it or I need to find someone that works specifically on that brand (Olle), in which case it might be difficult to find one locally. - If the price is OK, upgrading for the 07 (adjustable shock) would be another option… would someone happen to know if the 07 shock will fit the 06 frame ? motojojo Posted June 1, 2007 Report Share Posted June 1, 2007 (edited) You have 2 ways to go with this 1 is buy new and the other is have it rebuild and have a good chance of it doing it again. I have rebuilt several and they were good for a year or two. Contact your local Sherco rep. and see if they can help. motofire Posted June 1, 2007 Report Share Posted June 1, 2007 (edited) Hi Hugo...hows things? This may be of no use to you but...... I too had the same symptoms with my shock(same bike). I would clean it and go for a quick ride and again I would have oil residue there. I took the shock off cleaned and inspected it throughly. Later...I found I was wasting my time because I finally realized that my crankcase breather hose was venting right onto my shock. This is probably not your case but I really wished I had someone suggest to me to check that breather hose before I tore into the shock. The TRP shock from Jitsie look like a good alternative and is adjustable. Lewisport USA is advertising shock work and Ohlins now, so an e-mail to Adrian might be in order. hugo Posted June 5, 2007 Author Report Share Posted June 5, 2007 Thanks for the hints… Maybe I was too quick to call it a leaking shock… As per motofire’s comment about the breather hose, I decided to check for any outside source of fluid… After removing the shock unit from the bike and even removing the spring, I noticed that some fluid was actually retained in the center of the bumper/cushion (that yellow mushy pad fitted on top of the shock’s shaft), so the actual fluid I was referring to was maybe not coming from the seal/shock itself (?) Not sure yet how fluid could be spilled over in that area (the breather hose is not in the way). Anyway, I’ve cleaned everything, bounced the bike a few times and it stays clean so far. copemech Posted June 28, 2007 Report Share Posted June 28, 2007 Looks as though there may be a nick out of the seal, but leaking still. Not sure where you are located, but a couple of the UK guys reported that the distributor replaced the shock with the '07 version for a minimal fee. Otherwise, I would seek out the adjustable TRP, or the Ohlins dependant upon cost. The rebound adjustment lets you quicken them up a bit. The squeak noise usually means u need to spray some lube on the lower bushing jount. If it starts making a squishing sound when you push on the mudguard, the oil in the shock is getting low, but yours may not be there yet! johnnysherco Posted July 5, 2007 Report Share Posted July 5, 2007 Hello All Sherco riders It may not be of help to all but down here in Victoria Australia we have a suspension specialist who can and does all my repairs on the Sachs 05, Olle 06 and Olle 07 Sherco shocks. He has also rebuilt Beta shocks for me. The success rate of the repairs has been 100% no problems at all with some of the repairs being better than new. We are at the moment developing a new rear shock which will give us 22 compression settings and 60 rebound settings with a remote gas reservoir all fitted to a Sherco with minimal fuss. This shock is fully rebuildable and can be revalved to suit any requirments. sherpa Posted December 12, 2007 Report Share Posted December 12, 2007 Don't know if he still does it, but Bob at BJ racing used to rebuild the sherco shocks, he could also mod the non adjustable shock to adjustable for a modest cost as compared to new. try bob at: www.bjracing.com you may want to get his phone number off the site and call him as he is not to reliable with answering email inquiries.
