numbnuts
As someone who is actively involved with the running of trials, and having noticed a steady increase in the attendance levels, I was wondering if there was any merit in a central database, where club officials could post the number of riders that have attended their events. This would surely help us all get an idea on the number of active riders (possible geographic/demographic details may be interesting too). Anyone have any ideas on how this data could be EASILY collated or other thoughts? (p.s. before the rumours start I am NOT trying to sell anything and would only be interested in rider counts, not names, addresses, boot preferences etc!!) paul w
it would be very interesting to see where the extra numbers are coming from, for my own part i have recently got back into trials having ridden as a schoolboy in the early 1980s , i have notice a lot of riders of a similar age group that have recently returned to trials, some of which i rode against as a kid (and i still beat em!) are these people now bringing thier own offspring? Attendance numbers in the trials that we organise (in the MIdlands) seem to be constant since foot and mouth in 2001. Prior to that figures were slightly better. At a guess I would say that the riders we lost following foot and mouth were from the youth classes. We really struggle to attract younger riders despite offering three and sometimes four routes. scottt
You could just count the riders in the results on the news feed on here, i know its not a true picture as many clubs dont put there results on but its a start.
rabie
presumably using the new(ish) insurance database the ACU's insurers have set you could get some of this data (ie permits issues for certain dates, number of riders who rode, etc) the ACU (or was it LARA) did a survey on the 2nd weekend of march a few years back when there was talk of changing the 14/28 day rule (general permitted development order) and the results (of all motorcyclesport) were very interesting in how many thousands were riding/attending
