leggins
is it possible to get 2 bikes plus riding gear into a vw caddy also what are they like for reliability. The one im looking at is a p reg d with approx 120 k on the clock. I ask this question because they look quite short in length. cheers
barrybaines
there was a little post before HERE just on the 2 bike bit of it but maybe someone else may pick up on the reliability bit for you
andy m
I've got a Caddy, its my 2nd. They are reliable (VW) and 120k is not a lot if it has been looked after. I sold one with 180k on and its still running around now. Make sure its a SDi as the SD are gutless and they were selling both around P reg. Also they are built in Spain and the white ones tend to pick up rust spots on the front sloping part of the roof above the driver. Never tried to get 2 trials bikes in one but I think Pitley managed to do it but a back door had to stay open. The SDi is good on fuel as well. cubby
I currently have a caddy, an SD unfortunately, but I have had two bikes in. First one in front wheel first to front right hand corner and rear in opposite diagonal, with the second in rear first, rear wheel next to the first bikes front. Doors shut easily, and they were pretty tightly packed so not much movement. It's snug, and other gear needs to be packed around it, but it's do-able. Probably best to see if you can give it a try before you buy, but obviously may not be possible.

andy m
No, the original post is about the VW Caddy 1996 on. Not the pick up or the latest one you posted photos about. The one that is the same as a Seat Inca. PS. John there is a small pick up a Proton Jumbuck I think its called, but I dont think you can get a Diesel. Also the Caddy pick up you have is gaining a bit of a cult status among the V Dub crowd on account the Mk1 Golf front end etc, so when you are going to sell it stick it on ebay, they love em. trickymicky
Keeping off the original post i know, but i've had three of the original Caddy's. A brilliant vehicle for trials- especially after years of mini pick ups. The four speed ones were undergeared, the five speed box as John says, much better. I think they were actually built in Brazil, or somewhere similar. Had one confiscated just because it had some red diesel in it- cost 250 quid to get it back. toofasttim
I think they were actually built in Brazil, or somewhere similar. They are built in South Africa.
