johnnyboxer
Yesterday I managed to road register my Majesty 175 Yamaha Twinshock. It's a 1982 model and when I bought it last year, it was unregistered. This year I decided to embark on getting it done on an 'age related' UK 'X' plate. It has been pretty simple really............ Firstly I spoke to John Shirt jnr @ Gas Gas UK, whose father created the Godden framed Majesty (which my model is) and he arranged for his father to send me a 'dating certificate' for the bike from their records, confirming the year of manufacture as Jan 1982. This was a great help. Next .........I did a bit of work to get it to MOT standard on the brakes(bearings were ok and so were forks/shocks) and finally fit an original TY speedo to fork leg (easy to find on ebay or autojumbles) together with an electric bicycle horn. Bike sailed through the 'daytime' MOT So I gathered all the documents ( MOT,Dating Certificate,Bill of Sale,Insurance Docs, my ID) down to local DVLA office - queue for an hour.......fill in a couple of forms, pay for the tax and 1st registration fee ( Edited May 8, 2004 by Johnnyboxer
