pitley
September 23rd 2007 is the date for the Twinshock Trials enthusiast. The Wye Valley Auto Cub will be running a traditional road road based trial dedicated to Twinshock trials motorcycles. The trial will be run over a 30 mile loop taking in 12 groups, using 30 observed sections. Using many of the old Wye Valley Traders Groups in the area, plus new groups the organisers have managed to secure. The organisers are hoping to attract some of the riders of the Twinshock era from the 70s and 80s as well as many of the regulars of todays Twinshock scene. The trial will have two routes, so riders who take part in the ACU classic series and the Sammy Miller serieswill be catered for. Those who have ridden in this area beforewill be pleased to know that the steps at Tremorithic will not be in this trial, so theres no need for mountaineering equipment! The organisers are hoping to make this an annual event if enough intrest is shown. Classes will be as follows. Twinshock Premier Route. British Twinshock (cubs, james, etc) Premire Route. Twinshock Clubman Route. British Twinshock Clubman Route. Awards go to first three in each class Terrain will be typical Traders rocky subs with a few rooty subs for good measure. The trial will start at Pont-yr Ynys(map ref SO329288) in the village of Longtown Herefordshire. The village pub is about 500 metres away from the start,(crown inn) which will be opening early on sunday for breakfasts etc. Camping is available at the start 01873 860217 Entry is set at a maximum of 100, so in order to get a entry, regs will be available from Secretary of the event Malcom Herbert, Hungerstone cottage, Allensmore Hereford.HR2 9BE 07720079845 or www.acuwesterncentre.org.uk. Closing date will be 17th September 2007. As usual we are looking for observers and helpers on the day, so if you can help call Malcom on above number or Andy Pitt 07976529955. andy m
Went out with Pitley and a couple of others tonight and cleared out 2 good sections, rocky stream stuff, its looking good. It may be a double sub yet. I think its up to the main man to decide. There is some excellent trials areas around Craswell good to see it being brought back to use and the farmer we spoke to tonight was happy with us being there, not a trials rider himself but remembers it being used back in the day. I will be observing one of the sections so I look forward to seeing you out there if you can make it. It will be worth it.
