uhoh7 Posted August 14, 2007 Report Share Posted August 14, 2007 when it starts to squeal stop it with your finger (don't forget to wear a glove). this is reputed to often "fix" the squeal. i ended up getting a new fan. If it is one of the newer ones with the rubber cover on the back of the fan, Pull the cover back a put a couple of drops of spray lube on the end of the fan shaft. peterb Posted August 16, 2007 Report Share Posted August 16, 2007 You might have a stray electrical wire hanging in the way of the fan, or the fan blades catching on the shroud - check for marks on the blade edges, or if the brass bushes inside the fan are worn, the motor could squeal.
