trialsage
Well well well!!-- here we are again, another debate on a subject of which no one has atempted to find out the REAL facts !! -- what on earth are we thinking!--calling people "uselss p.o.s."???--is there really any need for this outbust ?? in one breath we are saying the europeans are welcome-(tommi / bruce ect ect) and then there usless!--and now were gonna take it up with te NATC!!!-what are we going to suggest-- they can only come over and ride here if your a good boy and get a job??-ridiculas! FYI--we (lewisportusa) had been talking to Shaun since the world round at TTC about comming over and conducting some schools to try and help promote and encourge the trials scene here in the USA--we are very fortunate to personnally know many of the worlds top riders and have done the same thing for the last few years- with James Lampkin in 05 and last year Alexz Wigg and Sam Haslam . This year we invited Shaun to come over and experience this great country , and - try and give some input to anyone that may be interested to learn from a world class level rider.--thats all! nothing more--no contract to ride the 08 nationals--no gate crashing, no finacial gains--for us or him!--nothing!, just help, and here we are with a full blown debat on how we are going to try and stop him/them competing in the US nationals!!--now --i supose a US rider going to ride in europe is OK?--what if it were the other way round-- suppose for a moment that the US riders were better than the europeans-- do you really think they would behave in the same manner?--i think not! so lets just look at it for what it is--a world class rider invited over to try and help the sport--it was very rewading for us to see everyone follow the pros and Shaun around the national at New Mexico-- we also organised a trainning day on the thursday before and had ALL levels attend during the day--( including PRO!)--everyone had a great time and many expressed thanks for the opportunity to see such a rider in action. SO-please dont let us make this something it is not--we have not done this as a publicity stunt or any other reason other than to further the sport--it will cost both him and us considerable expense to achieve this and this kind of thing makes it harder and harder not only to try and get this level of rider want to come over, but to make aynone want to even try and get them over here! For everyones information--Shaun is around until the 12th september here in Norcal--and will be organising several schools as well as some personal tuition--also he will be helping / attending the El trial which is being held this year in Bear valey ski area in Norcal on the 8th-9th sep hosted by the Sacto pits club and put together by ourselves. ptradam
I have no idea why we wouldn't want someone to join in on the Nat'l battle, no matter who they are. Look back at what happened with MX in the 60's and 70's. The euros came over here and wooped our buts! They could easily beat any rider that we had here in the USA. By the late 70's and early 80's the USA was on top of the world in MX. We now have FIM world champs coming to the USA to fight for an AMA MX or SX championchip. When you add a guy to the mix that is a step above the competion the other riders are going to have to step up their game.
bultaco34
Yeah, maybe with the kazillions of dollars Shaun will be paid to ride over here next year, he can retire...... and then Raga can come over in 2009 and make skaty-eight million dollars.....and then in 2010 Fuji will come over and make 400 kagillion dollars.....and then..... lets leave the conspiracy theories to Hollywood. Shaun Morris riding the U.S. series next year is a good thing that will benefit all U.S. riders and the sport.
copemech
Well, seems the man in the know has clarified the issue and roumor. Nuff said! Bottom line, don't misinterprit what I said. It is simple really. All are welcome , and all welcomed on an exhibition basis, just no need to send top level WTC riders to enter the US competition, not a competition any longer. Just a different level! If I could send Bruce Lee over to your house to kick your ass, chances are you would not learn much, except maybe how to get off the ground and get it kicked again! Does no good! We are working on that next level, this years TDN should be different! Coming up soon! I think we have a top team this year, should be something to watch! We shall see, good luck to them all! M2C

judyf
i think its great for good british riders like shaun, wiggy etc to go to the u.s.a to ride with the top u.s riders and help the progress, that what the sport over there needs, there seems to be plenty of interest over there, and also i dnt know people are writing off the u.s talent so quick, as ross danby is one of the best riders in the world in the 125class, (2nd infact) and i believe smage beat him in only his 2nd event in europe, so doesnt that show promise? same age, and i fink ross will progress to be a top 5 on the junior route and top 10 championship class in brition next year, so smage will progress the same, if the likes of shaun can get even more interest and lift the level o0f the riding im all for it. zippy
Sure was nice to see all those names from MI in the early and mid 70's. Would be even better if we could get some MI names on the list again soon.
copemech
Sorry missed your point there. No prob Nigel, there really was'nt one. Should have put "For others opinions, start at top of list." Ha! I have stirred the pot all I am going to. For now! I personally like to see the young "up and cummers" like Alexz in the frey with the kids! They really get together and push each other it seems. And that's all I am saying 'bout that!
