What Maps?

Hey all

I may be getting a 4rt with a 2 map PTB soon and was wondering what maps people recommend. Or is the standard maps the best to use. I have heard mentions of Maria Sanz map being very good but unsure how that is different from standard. I will get a shop to redo the maps for me until a get my laptop working so I would like to know what to ask for.

I was thinking something along the line of:

map 1: A road/ fast map as I ride alot of trails on the bike. But I am unsure the best way to achieve fast acceleration and top speed

map 2: something a little mellower with lots of torque.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I don't think this question can be answered until you confirm what standard you ride at. Bytheway I've been told the Laia (who is Maria?) map is set up for a 260cc 4RT.

Thanks for the reply. I am a strong class B rider but i sometimes ride the A sections after the trial to help me improve.

I am rubbish with names so it no surprise i got it wrong. :blink:

I have the sainz map on a 250 2005 and seems as good as anything else I have tried. Softer on the bottom end than my brothers std 2006 but come in sharp for the bigger banks and steps etc.

However I would recommend a soft map for a clubman rider, also the clubman riders down here are lowering the gearing to help tractability and ease on tight turns etc.

I have actually gone other way with gearing to most, not sure if it is the map or just personal preference as I ride bottom gear on most thing but hard on the throttle.

Also have a 315 master clutch cyl which I think was a must on earlier bikes as it gives smoother clutch operation to std 05/06

Thanks for the input.

I prefer riding in higher gears so i always put a bigger front sproket on my bikes.

I have been lucky as the previous owner has put on a bigger master cylinder so I hope that this will stop it from slipping like other 05/06 bikes i have tried.

I've had a go on a 4RT with a "soft" map - i thought it was great for tight sections and mud... I've also ridden a 4RT with a tuned map that was used by an expert and made the throttle feel like an on/off switch (boy did it wheelie well) and was great for him (hopper and jumper type rider) but defo not for me. But would miss my normal semi-grunty standard map - so i guess my advice would be to get one map that works for your general riding (not some super harsh one) and then a softer map as above. I wouldn't want two extremes i dont see the point.

Whilst on the subject of two maps, does anybody how complicated it is to load them? Say you have a 'Sainz' map on 1, and a more aggresive one on number 2. Could you change number 2 for a soft setting for a muddy trial, without it affecting number 1 or having to re-load number 1? If that makes sense?
