svleigh
Hi Folks, I wondered if anyone else has had this problem and found a fix? I have a standard 2006 4rt, no silly ignition maps or owt like that, but the spark plug is getting sooted(spelling?) up something bad. It looks as tho it's running rich. The bike starts to run rough after a couple of events and tick over is noticeably lumpy and stalls more easily as time goes on. I run on 98 octane fuel (more often BP fuel) and have use both puterline and pj1 filter oil to coat the standard air filter. the next thing for me to try is 95 octane fuel. After that I'm at a slight loss as what to try next. cheers Leigh

for artie
Many times plug fouling on the 4RT is a result of having started the bike when COLD and then very soon after shutting it off without giving it a chance to warm up properly. Always let it come up to operating temp (2 min) when starting from cold.
svleigh
Cheers Guys I think it must come from when riding the first lap of a trial, Get to section switch off, walk the section, start bike just before rider in front starts the section, ride section, ride to next section.....repeat etc . Not so bad, I suppose laps 2 through to 4 unless you're queueing up at a section. I think I'll fire it up sooner before riding the section so it's warmed up properly. And maybe let it tick over while queueing up. thanks Leigh
for artie
Sorrry Leigh, I don't think that that is it. It should be warmed up by the time you hit the first section. It only happens when starting it from COLD and then shutting it off. Artie

rock hopper
I let it warm up for 2 mins and after that it is fine. I do not touch the throttle ether during the warm up. I have had no problems with it.
svleigh
I recall being told this when I got it, I just got out of the habit of letting it warm up fully first. Doh . I been letting it run for about a minute at most. I'll give it a bit longer till the fan cuts in and see how I fair from there. Once again thanks for the advice Leigh Edited August 29, 2007 by SVLeigh

Bisides the larger intake opening to get easier much more air with less resitant to the airbox for a nice colored spark it is stronger, it doesn't bend. I don't make this things for selling it. You have an example and perhaps you make it by yourself.
