ruffrider
Hi, BUMPY (www.bumpy.org.uk) is a Bradford based charity organisation which, amongst other things, are training young people (6 - 16 years) in trials riding. As the young people are developing their skills they have identified a need to purchase a 50cc trials bike to enable the younger members to ride and learn alongside the older ones. So, on Saturday 8th Sept at midday they are holding a fund raising event at the George Hotel, Low Moor, Bradford Instead of riding on Thursday evening we spent the time building obstacles and intend to hold a demonstration on Saturday so you can see how well they are doing If any of you are around it would be really great to see you there and help support them If anyone could donate a prize towards the raffle/tombola (wine, bubble bath, sweets, tools, unwanted xmas presents, ANYTHING) we'd all really appreciate it. I'll drop a followup to this post and let you know how it went Edited September 3, 2007 by RuffRider
ruffrider
Hi, just thought you might be interested to hear how this went, it might inspire more ideas to bring Trials, even in a small way, out in the open. The day went really well with everyone having a good time and no real incidents. We were starting to get concerned about the weather but it turned out perfect which had a major influence on the success of the event. The George Hotel has a fairly large car park between it and the main road which we cordoned off for the day and meant that the action was visible to passers by. There was a selection of about 5 bikes being almost continuously ridden around the car park by about 15 riders. The obstacles they had built proved a real success and gave them all a chance to show off. The intention is to put the raised funds towards a new GasGas 50. I went to the display put on by BDMC a year or two ago and think this idea of bringing Trials out of the sticks and into the open can only help to educate people on what safe and sensible riding is all about. Anything which goes towards quashing the stereotypical idea that motorcycle riding is all about antisocial screaming around streets is a good thing. Anyway, Good on you BUMPY and WELL DONE to all the riders who took part.
