Cabestany Ignition Problems

Has anyone else with an 07 Cabestany replica had any ignition problems? I bought the bike in June and it has only been out 3 times, the last time I rode to the first section and killed the bike to walk the section and it never started again.

Contacted the dealer who in turn spoke to MRS and a stator plate was sent to me. This was fitted and the bike fired up first time, although it still has a back fire now and then. I have disconnected the 2 stage map and retarted the ignition slightly to try and see if the misfire goes away!

Prior to the stator plate arriving, I removed the flywheel and could find nothing wrong.

Has anyone else had any similar issues? Is this a common teething / manufacturing problem with the Cabby?

Cheers

yep its a regular cabby problem. dont own 1 but have seen and heard enough of them that have had problems. had a play on one in a car park and couldn't get one with it. RUMOR (only rumor) is that Gary Macdonald is on his second already and thats had new ignition etc

Iam pretty sure (fingers crossed) that I have the only 07 Cabby that seems to run right. I have heard of problems as well and three of may mates bought them at the same time as me. My main problems with the bike have been a very negative throttle response from low revs/pick-up which i have cured with Boyesen reeds and smaller pilot jet and the Cabby bars way to low cured with Renthal bars and bar risers. I love the bike now but it has taken quite a while to get used to it over the years of Rev's i've had and find like most bike changes the bikes will do some things better than others but you loose out on other things.

One of the other cabby's our lot have had a recent Stator and ignition failure the other a crank seal very early on, all three of my mates have not been happy at all with how the bikes seem to run carburation wise so I recon Ive just been lucky. :D

Got mine in June when they came out, and it must have been ridden at least 6-7 times now :D since then with no running problems at all apart from not starting first kick when hot after I put the Boyesens in, this was cured instantly by using a Iridium plug though

Bike picks up really nice now from nothing and very hard to stall even on mega low revs going up stuff, the K is a great carb but is very very sensitive, you have to adjust the air/petrol screw on a daily basis depending on the temp /air pressure but well worth the effort for the sweet spot.

Got the Boyesens from Here and I have fitted a 42 pilot in the carb, pretty sure the air screw is 3/4 of a turn out but varies day to day slightly. The 40 pilot was too lean and I havent altered the main jet, needle or float heights from standard. I'm going to take a look at the stator position tomorrow and see if I can retard the motor a little as its abit sharp in the streams. I never used map 2 on the bike as it felt too rich and too lively when singing, TTS 2 stroke oil, 75mls per 5 litres of super unleaded (any brand seems to do) Good luck with it in the future, they are great bikes when running right
