scorpa3
The Stratford-Upon-Avon OK Supreme LDT scheduled for Sunday 23rd Sept has been cancelled. After a great deal of thought and consideration, the Clerk of the Course has asked me to notify as many people as possible that the OK Supreme has sadly been cancelled. With a suspected foot and mouth outbreak now as near as Solihull, the land owners around the proposed course are rightly concerned that any activity in their vicinity might cause a spread of the disease in the Cotswolds. The club will attempt to contact all riders and officials with news of the cancellation today. Yours in sport. charlie prescott
Hi Guys Hi Pete, The good news is that the Suspected Foot and Mouth case in Sollihull as proved NEGATIVE. So there's hope for the not too distant future that thing's will be back to normal. Sorry the Trail bikes has been canceled as I know how much work it envolves. Good luck with the future trials, I am allready looking forward to next May. Regards Charlie.
scorpa3
Thanks for that. It was a real blow to have the OK Supreme cancelled at this late date, the telephone's have had some stick today. Hopefully everyone now knows. It just wasn't worth the risk and our very kind and helpful (and ohh so important) land owners were getting nervous, we really didn't have a choice I'm afraid. Sorry for anyone who's been put out by this. I've now got four days off work with nothing to do. On a positive note, I have another date in October available and if the F&M scare dies down sufficiently over the next two weeks, we may apply for a permit for that date as an alternative. It may not be a round of the Trail bike championship, but just a Club long distance trial. I'll keep you updated about this.
bikespace
I've now got four days off work with nothing to do. Have a trip over to our Novogar on Sunday. bring yer bike if you fancy observing. You can have a potter round the sections before the riders turn up. I can map you out an all off road route with some brilliant scenery Guilt trip bit: I do sympathise with you, I know how much it takes to set up, we've been dreading any F&M news as I don't think ours would be re-run if cancelled, we'd just have to cry as we went round picking the flags up. Good that it's not a real case of F&M anyway.
scorpa3
Thanks for the offer but we've promised to go and observe at a local club trial which is still running. As far as the LDT was concerned, we had cut the groups which were on farms, however the Solihull scare was the final straw and we risked upsetting the farmers by even riding past their farms. Looking at the long term good of the club, it just wasn't worth the risk. Imagine the stigma 'if' somehow we had bought F&M to the Cotswolds. Our club (and trials in the area) would never have lived it down. It's only a day out for us, it's the farmers living. None-the-less I am still gutted at having to cancel. A big SORRY to all those 116 who had entered. Pete
scorpa3
After a great deal of discussion and heart searching, the Stratford Club committee feels that it is not in the best interest of the club to reshedule the OK Supreme LDT to run on the 28th October. Those riders entered will have their entries returned forthwith. On behalf of the Stratford Club I would like to thank those who put in so much hard work organising the OK Supreme and to the 116 riders who entered. We look forward to running a bigger and better event in 2008. Pete Edited September 27, 2007 by scorpa3
