atomant
"Bradford Council's executive member for the environment, Councillor Anne Hawkesworth, said: "We met with the Auto Cycle Union to discuss the Flappit site and we are now waiting to hear their proposals to overcome the issues we outlined to them." One issue must be noise and we all know what sport has noisy bikes! It's about time the manufacturers quietened the machines down. You can here a 4 stroke MX bike for miles across a field when there is simply no need for it.
ned1
it's good to hear that the big names like dougie are trying to get venues re-opened, but i agree with atom ant. I think we are probably being like tarred with the same brush here, they see the motorbikes and automatically think they are loud because of the reputation motocross bikes have for being loud. rabie
yes MX bikes are bad / very bad. and the MX industry is slowly working on it. but in a world where half of MX sales are to the US (AMA sound level a lot higher than Europe/FIM and AFAIK they don't sound test) - thus we are led by Americans in these matters. that said we lowered the MX level about tow years ago (98 to 96) and are lowering it further (94 from Jan 1) and are working upon better testing (higher RPM levels, drive by, etc). But as you say, we are all lumped together as off road motorcyclists with the stolen "field bikes" which receive no maintenance (esp the silencer)
