tommo
04 Sherco 250 I was riding a club trial today doing quite well for once! Half way through my last lap waiting to enter a section, bike was idling then it just cut out. Wouldn't start. So long push back to the van. 2 new plugs tried. No spark. Plug cap changed. No spark. Connections and wires checked. No spark. Disconnected kill switch. No spark. Bridged thermostat terminals. Kicked. Fan spins. No spark! Only my second ride on the bike. Maybe related but the bike kicks back like a shire horse every other kick. Any thoughts greatly appreciated. BTW thanks to TB for lending me his new gasser to finish the lap badly! tommo
Thanks for your reply max. I haven't had time to take the flywheel off yet but why would the generator send enough current to turn the fan but nothing to the plug? Apologies if i am being dim but electrics are not my storng point!
copemech
The "generator" just has to spin to make power, the ignition must be triggered at a proper time. Sounds like you may have a bad trigger coil on the stator plate. Ck the thing "keyway" anyway, but start asking about for a buddy to loan you a good stator plate to test it with, as I know of no other way to tell for sure! It will make a difference if it is an old or new setup on your bike too! Ducati or whats the new one Lionelli?
