flick5848
Hi All Just registered here as I have a problem with my 2002 rev 3 forks. I have changed the oil exactly as the manual describes but the forks are rock solid. Could any body advise me of a walk through guide because the manual is really basic. I do have decent mechanical skills but more with cars and this is my first trails bike so I think I might have done something a little wrong. Chris Welcome Chris That doesn't sound good, did you ensure the air gaps at the top of the legs when you filled up with oil??? I didn't first time I did mine and they were pretty stiff(!), try that first. Next step is to make sure you have reassembled the bushes right and that there is plenty of glide before you fill em up and tighten down the top nuts. After that it's Private Fraser time...."we're all doomed"....from me anyway. Good Luck Edited October 25, 2007 by Slapshot
markyboy
When you filled the forks with oil did you measure the air gap remaining at the top when the forks were extended or compressed? I would guess from your description that you have filled it with the legs extended. If this is the case the remedy will be to drain the legs and refill with the legs compressed until you have the correct air gap remaining. In the manual it states thet the right leg should be compressed and then filled to the correct level but it didn't say compress the left leg so I didn't. I have since tried it with the left leg compressed and they are now perfect but thanks a lot for your replies.
