ruffrider
Hi Max, Can't really help with advice on the plug for the 98 Techno, I think I have BPR5ES in the 97 Techno and it runs fine. The leaking sounds like the jet in the carb is sticking. Give the carb a good clean especially check the float moves freely and the jet is well clean so it seals properly. Good luck. fkrisztian
The carb leaking is a typical Mikuni carb problem. The solution is the drilling modification. You will find information about this modification in the sticky "New Rev3 Mikuni Carb" topic. It's easy to make the mod, so don't worry. dan williams
Or you could just nip a hole in the vent tubing above the level of the float bowl. I just put a nick in with cutters at the bend. Works just as well and if you're not in water up to the tank it won't make any difference to the bike. The problem is the vent tubes are so long they are below the level of fuel in the float bowl. Any momentary burp of fuel up into the tube starts a siphon which will keep going until the tank is empty or your buddies go, "Hey is that gas?" and you shut the tap off.
