frenchie
Micky and I have had some banter before on this Mono front end subject, with him threatening to confiscate my Majesty if I do any more little mods to it....... The front end was the final straw as far as he was concerned......... Seriously the post was whether monos should compete with twinshocks, the answer is no no no . We all know the history when the Mono arrived all other trials bikes ( Twinshocks ) became almost obsolete overnight , the line had been drawn in the sand and trials had moved on. The post then moves to should we try and improve the twinshock bikes that we ride today, for me its personnal choice, some like orignality and some like to " Trick " their bikes up. I sympathise with both, and both are not wrong in what they do. In France and more so in Spain there are age retlated cateogories for twinshock so you wont ride a 1972 montesa cota 247 against a 1983 fantic 300 so the playing field is kept level. Doing this entails more work but no one can them moan about the bikes in their particular class. Lastly a Majesty with a Mono front , with drum brakes looks great, is better and safer to ride in the harder type sections . At no time does it afford any advantage over late model Hondas, Fantics and Swms twinshocks whose suspension and braking where developed in the late eighties not the early seventies. Good Point Frenchie, Its only a bit of jealousy on my part, I need your Majesty!! I suppose I should wind my neck in anyway as I have your old front end on my Majesty!
