bob
Hiya, Last night after washing my bike I decided that my header pipe looked a bit bland in that browny colour, so I thought I might have a go at polishing it up a little, I probably wouldn't have bothered but there are a couple of tiny specs of rust forming on it and where my trousers have been rubbing it is a shiny silver. Anyway, once in the house it became apparent that it has perhaps been lacquered with something which rubs off rather easily, or is the metal just coloured from welding or something?? Does anybody know what the exhaust is coated with? Could I polish it up and then coat it with some sort of clear laquer? If so then what? Thanks a lot, Bob
mad4it
The exhaust pipe is chromed then sprayed with a tinted grey laquer,so if you polish it,it will go through to the chrome underneath!
bob
Cheers, I've given it a polish and I think it looks really good. Didn't like it with half of the laquer worn through and patchy. It came off very easily. We thought it looked more like it was made of stainless. Thanks, Bob
