oakworth jon
Help please? My son returned from practice today with a dead Beta Rev3 125 '05 He says as he was going up hill, it started revving fully without any throttle and died. He kicked it over and it revved fully again with no throttle so he killed it. After that it won't start (There was no water involved!) There is a good spark and I have changed the plug just in case. Fuel is also getting to the carb. I have taken the carb off and given it a check over (although I don't really know what to look for) and it all seems to be OK? There is good compression when kicking it over but no life! Does anyone have any ideas on what to check from here and what may be the problem? P.S. If you were the guy at Rough Holden who gave him assistance...many thanks. Jon.
hop blip and a jump
Has he pulled the throttle cable out a bit accidentily?? Check the slide is free in the carb, if you flick the throttle you should here it clunck back down when you leave go?? Have you got spark? hop blip and a jump
doh!! i just read you've got spark!! i had a similar problem with a 97' techno i had, but never found anything wrong with it, it just fixed itself!
betapete
check cable, check slide, then chec for any damage to induction side, ie the rubber that had the jubilee clip round on the engine side of the carb is it split?. is the jubiliee damaged/missing, then you are looking at crank seals, or an air leak
hovis
could just be flooded? try kicking it with throttle open full
mtwallet
it sounds like fuel starvation, check the carb to make sure the jets are clear and it could be worth checking the reeds to make sure they close fully
fellonmelug
We had similar prob. with our Rev80 it turned out to be a small bit of twig jamming the reeds open
ruffrider
We had a similar problem with my lads 125, stuck on full revs (he still has the scars). Turned out the slide wan't running freely in the carb and was stuck fully open. Cleaned carb and slide and all was well. There was no water involved, loose dirt in the bottom of the airbox has been jolted free and sucked into the carb.
scorpa3
Possibly the head gasket/O ring failed?
husky
Check the throttle cable hasn't got snagged on something. It sounds like the throttle slide is not returning .Try disconnecting the cable from the twistgrip and starting it,it should just tickover. If there's no improvement have the carb, airbox and filter off and give them all a good clean, something is holding the slide up,Good luck
