jaylael
Thought my trials riding friends across the pond and elsewhere would like to take a look at the new Hodaka Type 2 Trials machine. Just finished 'er up this past weekend. Pictures courtesy of Ed Chesnut. Jay L. Edited July 2, 2004 by JayLael

bullfrog
The photo was taken at the Hodaka Days celebration this past weekend. It was celebrating the 40th anniversary of the introduction of the Hodaka Ace 90. Jay is an expert class rider and designed the sections for our small "fun trial". We had only 5 sections and two laps - but everyone from the newest novice to the experts had something they could ride clean AND something that was a challenge. He lives some 200 miles away, and when he visits and regular folks see what can be ridden by a good rider even on a "vintage" trialer - they are amazed. Jay's been riding modified Hodaka Trials machines since he was about 10 or 12 so it was great to have him ride at Hodaka Days. He's shown on his second custom built Hodaka which improves on his first one. It is lighter, with improved steering geometry and improved power. Bullfrog Keep the rubber side down! jaylael
Thanks Ed for the explanation. I thought it might be good to also put up the photo of Eric Smith with the explanatory comments about the rear tire. For more pics from Hodaka Days, check out www.jhmand.com/hodakadays2004/ Note that there were 200 plus spectators at the Hodaka Trial. What a neat event! kevin j
are you running tubeless radials on back? If so, on tube type rim, or relaced a new rim on there? ah yes, the Combat Wombat of the past memories. . . . k
jaylael
Kevin: I've had no trouble mounting tubeless tires on ordinary rims with a tube in there. Lots of soapy water and aired up to pretty high pressures and they pop right on the bead. If you like Combat Wombats, Hodaka days is for you! Maybe next year you could make it out to Athena. It's the funnest thing all year for Hodie freaks. Jay.
kevin j
Jay: I have used tubeless tires on tube rims ok, but I was hoping for an easy way to use tubeless tires. Just to avoid using the beadlocks and fighting with tubes. tks, kcj
