stoford
Hi, Can anybody tell me what gearbox oil they're running in their 290 Sherco and/or what they'd recommend? Also what make of brake pads would you recommend? Cheers, Stoford.

copemech
The factory spec is 10-40 gear oil! It will make for a less grabby clutch. All depends on what you want! Edited January 8, 2008 by copemech

ham2
ham2, what brand of ATF do you use? and do you buy the same grade SAE ? It says atf dextron 3 on the bottle (I think..I'm at work at the mo),if that helps. It's easier to find than the recommended gearbox oil. Clutch is a little sharp I admit but it helps when you want to 'pop', if you catch my drift?

neo
Here's my suggestion Castrol EDGE Sport 5W-30 http://trials.com.au/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?...p;hilit=Castrol http://www.castrol.com/castrol/productd ... Id=7013361 Believe it or not, it's the best thing for a Sherco since sliced bread. Best of balance. Neo
trh71
Hi, Am i just being thick? Is Castrol edge sport 5W-30 engine oil or gear oil? Sherco web site says 10-40 Will that be engine or gear oil, just got the bike and always had 4 strokes before. Its just i've got some Millers 10-40 (semi or fully synthetic, cant remember) engine oil in the garage, but don't want to put the wrong stuff in!!! neo
Castrol EDGE Sport 5W-30http://trials.com.au/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?...p;hilit=Castrol An update on the link above http://trials.com.au/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1087 But it's important to understand that there's a 3 way balance, between a well lubricated engine...a bike that "shoots off" from cold, when first put in to gear....and a clutch that has a progressive action (without squealing). Castrol EDGE Sport 5W-30 provides that balance to me. ....but I have had no success with any 10w-40 oil. Best of balance. Neo
nigel dabster
Hi,Can anybody tell me what gearbox oil they're running in their 290 Sherco and/or what they'd recommend? Also what make of brake pads would you recommend? Cheers, Stoford. It would help if we knew where in the world you were? I always used atf/tqf in the UK its cheap available everywhere and can be changed frequently.
mick annick
EP90 light gear oil. When I was a mechanic 'EP90' and 'light gear oil' were very different things Mick
