( The smart ones of course ) Foucault invented the gyroscope for example. Where would milk be today without Louis Pasteur! Posted January 31, 2008 Author Report Share Posted January 31, 2008 I had to brush up on my history knowledge on this but basically, for most of recorded history, man thought that the Earth was the centre of the universe. This theory was called the Geocentric Theory. Anyone who challenged it was put to death for their heretical beliefs. Religion and mythology were also factors of course. A proportion of the French to this day held this belief even though science proved otherwise. How cool is that - At least the French respect their geniuses. We just let ours invent something then let another country exploit it!
