Midland Classic Trial Burrycliffe 3rd Feb

Midland Classic Trials Clubs 3rd February meeting was held at a cold but sunny Berrycliffe Quarry with a 9 section 5 lap course laid out over and around the rocks that this well known venue is famous for. The majority of the marks were lost on section 3 a rocky climb with a couple of tight turns and steps thrown in and section 7 a steep climb with a very sharp turn back down catching out a fair number of the entry.

The Expert unit class was a bit of a Tiger Cub whitewash as the top three placings were all on the same make of machine.

Speaking of a whitewash the Carson family very nearly had a clean sweep with Pete Carson taking the honours in the unit category and brother Derek taking 3rd in the 2 stroke class but a fantastic result for young son Robert on his Wassel winning the Clubman class bodes well for an extension to the awards cabinet in the Carson household for years to come.

Finally it was great to see two rigids turn out and a fantastic ride by Werner Eckel on his J.A.P. ette to win the class putting many of the more tricked up bikes to shame. A superb result. Shows it is still more about the rider than the machine. So come on dig out your old bikes especially the rigids and big singles and join us at the next round Youlgrave on March 2nd.
