swooshdave
I assume that's not magnesium? A cheap option might be this stuff: Alumiweld As long as it's a non-stressed area it might work. Throw some of this crap on there and file it down pretty. Paint it back up and no one would know the difference. Technically I don't think it's actually welding, more like soldering. You are suppose to be able to drill and tap this stuff. Like I said, I wouldn't use it near anything mission-critical but scratches or cracks in a cover, maybe. I've got a banged up Matador engine I was going to try it on. You might find it locally under a different name.
Guest majestyman340
Any competent tig welder could sort that for you without too much trouble. Alternatively try Ellastone Offroad for a case as they have broken any number of Hondas I might be wrong, but seem to remember that many years ago when I worked on a Honda TLR motor, that the generator coils mounted onto that outer cover, which may mean welded repair would be difficult? honda pants
He moves in mysterious ways. Throw the thing in the bin!! If you attempt to weld the casing it has a 99% of distortion also coils live inside there so extremley tight for space, the moral of the story apply a bit more care when working on those cherished bikes. Ellastone will have one, a friend bought one recently
