Hi all. I am searching round looking for a bike to get back into trials, and have been to a few to watch and crack on with a few lads about what bike is suitable.

The last bike I wobbled around (and I mean wobbled) was a gas gas contact. I was fancying another but lots of people have said they are a bit flighty and unreliable?

most recommend rev 3 s ,a couple have said scorpas, and yesterday ,a lad said get an old TY, ideal he said?

Also have the chance of a TYZ for

well,

beta rev-3's only go for rev-3's between 2002 (later model) and now

scorpas, great bikes, easy to dampen the power on but stock have plenty of low end power.

with the gasser's go for a 200 pro. Heard They are the most reliable of the gas gas range.

Tyz? umm not so sure about this. yes you can get them quite cheap but they are very very heavy compared to newer bikes. My old man has one. he never has problems with the bike and it can sit for a few months and start first/second kick.

Number 1 choice though has to be montessas if you can pick one up cheap. they may weigh slightly more than most bikes but are very durable and are very good for finding the grip in almost all situations!

From what I've heard - Montesa are the most solid / reliable. They do seem to command higher prices than other manufacturers bike of the same age. I looked around at many 315 r's & plumped for an 02 that the owner claimed had never been trialed. Inspection seemed to confirm this - was still on original tyres & sprockets, not a scratch on the sump guard with no rounded of bolts or signs of abuse - paid

I've got a '99 200 Techno.Good bike,a bit heavy compared to more modern stuff. The 200 engine is a peach, lovely low down power but can rev out as well.Worst thing about any Techno is the rear suspension linkage. It might be ok if the bike has been well looked after.Mine was seized solid, needle rollers were all knackered.I still haven't got it all fixed yet,too many other bikes and not enough cash.

What size is the Techno your looking at?

Its a 250, but its miles away. I would have had a punt if it was cheap enough, but price a bit high now!
