bordermike
This maybe a silly point, but next sunday there is a National trial being run by the Dalmellington club, but the same day there are two other club trials and a Amca trial on. It may be different for northern scottish clubs to run the same day as obviosly it involves a lot of travelling. Good luck to the clubs running club trials, im sure they will be well supported by there members. But a club running a national will obviously not be as well filled if it was the only trial on.The one running the national is obliged to have observers, which may effect that clubs members if they have to observe! T his in turn will effect the entry for that trial. WHERE EVER YOURE RIDING SMILE AND ENJOY !!!

Years ago the rule was no club trials on the same day as a national however maybe Big John can fill us in on the current thought's. I suspect it's simply too difficult to fit everything otherwise
big john
Years ago the rule was no club trials on the same day as a national however maybe Big John can fill us in on the current thought's. I suspect it's simply too difficult to fit everything otherwise It was tried just a few years ago as an experiment that no closed to club permits were issued on the same day as a Scottish Championship status event, however it made no difference to the entry level at the national. Sure it is difficult to fit everyones' requirements into a busy calendar. What we do now is to try an ensure that there is an appreciable distance between the two events. For example a trial in Lochaber on the same day as an Ayrshire trial would be acceptable. The SACU have no control over any AMCA events being run. Where are the two closed to club trials being held on the same date of the Dalmellington trial? You do not mention this. And another.................IDMCC are holding a Club Trial next weekend (which is part of our Club Championship) approx, 250 miles away from your event. I can guarantee that if we didn't run it, no-one would travel the 200+ miles each way for a National. A few die hard triallers come down to your Scottish Champ events but the bulk of our membership are quite happy to pootle about locally. I'm afraid it is a sign of the times, even if we don't have anything on, only a very few will travel, and that would be to an Adult or Support Championship event. We as a Club try to satisfy our membership with what they want, but one thing we don't do, is have a Club Trial if a neighbouring Club is running a National. Observers..............well that's another saga.............our Club riders must supply an observer at our nationals or they don't get a ride! Sign of the times again.......too many other things to do on a Sunday, wives/girlfriends go shopping, mates find something better than standing on a wet and windy hill.
