Guest sherco dude
it looks good but was wondering why u need a cover i couldnt figure out why hmm
monty-python
I thought it would be pretty obvious why you need the guard, to stop yer water pump getting twatted by a large rock = huge repair bill ,no?

don t.
Thanks for the series of pics! They show quite well how it's done. I wondered about doing this but didn't think it would be necessary on my 04 with the "new design" skidplate. It seems, however, that my bike doesn't have the new skidplate! I'll have to look into it a bit deeper & if it turns out that I'm stuck with the old design then I'll have to do like Boofont & add a water pump shield on (might still be required with the new design as well). dave blowers
I bought this water pump guard off eurodirt, its already done its job a few times too, and it still looks like new.
enrico
Dave, Is it strong enough to withstand a real whack from a passing rock?n Also, do you have the contact details for Eurodirt please? Boofont, How do you attach your guard to the original sump guard? Is it welded on, or just bolted - its not too clear from the photos. Thanks guys - oh and my 04' doesn't have a flat sump guard either, but then it grips so well that the sump guard never hits anything anyway... boofont
It's welded. The last of the pics posted by Andy shows it best. You can see it on the right hand side. I can take more pics if req'd. Bike is clean and sat in the kitchen waiting for me to whip out the carb. Had a bit of bother at the trial this sunday, water and petrol don't mix too well!!! Wish I had a garage!
dave blowers
Sorry about the delay, its had a couple of really hard hits against rocks and theres been no damage at all, its really strong and very light. The website for eurodirt is www.rof.net/yp/eurodirt and the e-mail is eurodirt@rof.net it cost me
enrico
Dave, Thanks for the reply and the info. Cheers, Eric :hat:
don t.
Dave, How far around the bend on the coolant hose does the CF guard go? I had my first event this weekend and ended the day in the last section of my 2nd loop when I clipped the hose on a rock! No damage to the pump housing but the hose got sliced pretty cleanly right on the edge of the fitting. I was able to kill it without loosing too much coolant; laid it on it's side and cut the hose in the middle of the damage and was able to stretch the hose just enough to fit it back to return to the paddock. I'm gonna have to get together a spares kit for this bike (let the one I had for the Techno go with it)... BTW, here's a snap of it after the day's riding; maybe the bike sensed I was ready to quit for the day anyway...
charliechitlins
I did that EXACT repair on my buddy's first ride on his new Scorpa. The hose guard looks like money well spent.
dave blowers
It goes quite a way round the hose, i think it would be hard to split it anyway. I used to carry a spare hose at trials just in case but ive sold it to a mate cos ive got that much confidence in the guard.
