Tubless Rims

A freind of mine has an old 96 gasser and is wanting to change the tyre on the back wheel. At the moment he has a 'tubeless' tyre with a tube in it and the wheel also has a gripper. Hes got a new tyre he wants to put on which is a 'tube type' tyre and is wondering if it will bead ok? If it has a gripper and a tube in the tyre will it matter if its tubless or tubed?

i have personally tried that with my 02 Gasser. the tire did not bead and it was wayy to stiff for me. i weigh about 110 pounds so if your friend is bigger than i am it should be fine. i am having a rear tire leak and i keep being told"throw a tube in it"
