fantic 300 pro
Can somebody please tell me where and how the chain tensioner fits on my 300??? I have now collected three different types of tensioner (all different but all supposed to fit the 300) Does the armt fit on the swingarm on the hole underneath where the chain guard bolts on? Or does it somehow bolt on the frame/bash plate/engine? Does the rubber let the chain run over it or should the rubber push down from above? Please help! Many thanks Paul
lee harris
The chaintensioner was fitted to the frame like a 240 on 1984 models. On 1985 models it was fitted to the swing arm, which yours seems to be. If it has no rear loop it is more likely a 1985. In any cas, the block pushes the chain up from underneath. Post some pictures and I can tell you which tenioner fits your swing arm...or try all three. lee
fantic 300 pro
Lee I can't seem to make any of them fit. There is no rear loop on my frame. Does that mean it is supposed to have the part that fits on the swingarm. Where exactly on the swingarm is it supposed to fit? Are the tensioners different, is there a specific part for the swingarm and a specific part for the frame? I can't list pics at the mo but just bought a fourth one on ebay.com this morning, if you want to take a look at it the item number is 350094393786. Cheers for you help Paul

I also do not know if it is an 84 or 85 model. Cheers again Paul

lee harris
This is a picciee of a modded 240. The important bit shows the two lugs at the back on the left for the type of tensioner you have. http://s521.photobucket.com/albums/w332/Fa...nt=DSCF4479.jpg This is the back of a 300 1985, no lugs http://s521.photobucket.com/albums/w332/Fa...nt=JUNE_202.jpg This is the same bike with swing arm fitted. see where the tensioner fits http://s521.photobucket.com/albums/w332/Fa...nt=JUNE_206.jpg Edited September 7, 2008 by Lee Harris
bagey
The chain tensioner mounting on some 300's was hung a braket attached to the rear engine mounting. As I remember it was 2 hexagonal extensions about 1.5" long with bracket on the end. I had a similar problem when rebuilding a 300 a few years back. fantic 300 pro
Gentlemen, thanks for taking the time and trouble to help me out. My bike deffo is the model that had the bracket attached to the back of the engine as I have no hole in the swingarm. Unfortunately I do not have the bracket to attach a tensioner! therefore all my bits were a waste of money including the 301 tensioner (see pic) on its way from back home in the UK. http://www.flickr.com/photos/elsinore250/2841469812/
lee harris
Then you have two options, either drill the swingarm...the pivot is 10mm I think so drill through 14mm and weld a tube in both sides or make a bracket for the frame or..... there is a 300 swing arm on evil bay in the states. It is listed as a 240 but it isnt....... transport and vat is expensive though. did I say 2 options? ok 2.5 is to buy a 301 swing arm , loads about, and start from there. A M8 rides a 300 here in the fatherland rides with a 301 so I know it works. PM me if you need help finding one. wasnt that 4 options.....
