gassar
Can anyone tell me whether the main bearing oil seals on an 06 290 can be replaced without splitting the engine? I have oil in the crankcase, possible leaky main bearing oil seal, but the oil is not the same colour as the transmission oil. any suggestions?? gassar
trialsnutterman
It is possible to get to the crank seals without splitting the cases, on the clutch side you will have to drain the coolant, remove the kick start so you can remove the clutch casing, then you'll need to remove the clutch so you can pull the primary drive gear off you'll need some kind of puller to remove this as it is tight on the shaft. From here you can get at the seal, you'll have to put some self tapping screws into it so you can pull it out. On the Flywheel side it's just a case of removing the flywheel to get at the seal. If the oil is a different colour are you sure it's not 2 stroke oil, it's usual to find two stroke oil in the crankcases not loads but a good covering on all surfaces.
