zippy Posted October 23, 2008 Report Share Posted October 23, 2008 Does it run without the choke on. I am thinking possible that it is sucking air in from somewhere, making it run lean and therefore you need to choke it to give it more gas. This makes for a very uncontrollable idle (tickover). For air leak check center case gasket, base gasket, crank seals (flywheel side, but if bad just change both) and reed cage gasket. My 2000 290 had a chunk of center gasket missing between the barrel and reed valves causing it to run lean. Just a thought. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
