Yes it should move a wee bit. Its called a floating disc and helps the disc stay nice and flat when it gets hot, and ensures that the disc can move to align with the pad surfaces when braking if there is any slight difference in alignment without flexing the disc. dan williams Posted October 31, 2008 Report Share Posted October 31, 2008 Careful you don't break off a screw or crack the hub. All disks are now floating type and have some freeplay. Just as a rule of thumb, if you're nervous you're tightening too much you are. None of the modern machines has much metal behind that bolt no matter where it is on the bike with the possible exception of the crankshaft.
