hoggle
Is there anybody out there that knows why there is a big difference in the pulling in the Clutch of a Gas Gas 250 2005 and a Sherco 290 same yearish ! The reason being i had a shot of a Pals Sherco and to pull in the Clutch requires little effort, though, my Gas Gas is much more stiffer. I have to use two fingers every now and again as the pressure required to hold it in leaves my Fingers tired, but on the Sherco it's a Doddle ! copemech
Gasgas make a lighter belville spring now, not sure exactly when that went into production bikes, maybe 06-07. Then you need to be sure your clutch pack thickness is set correctly. Thicker the better they say! Or at least within the range!
bikespace
Then you need to be sure your clutch pack thickness is set correctly. Thicker the better they say! Or at least within the range! Yep, you can buy a kit, then need to make sure your clutch is within spec. I did it once, bit of a faff around, but I'm no mechanic. They do deteriorate gradually and need this job done. Definitely no reason why your clutch shouldn't be just as light. From memory the kit was about 30 or 40 quid, but not sure. mikee
I believe that the stiffness in you clutch is down to a low finger height on the clutch pettals . I had the same on my 05 pro when I fitted new plates and the stack height was down to 16.5 mm. I over came this by putting a thinner pressure plate in and this raised the stack height to 18.5mm, which gave me a very soft on the finger clutch. Hope that makes some sense, if not this might. copemech
Yea, that is the video done by Jim Smell some time back which explains most all that gasser clutch stuff, yet I am almost positive the factory part available is the same as the mod one. Ck with your dealer locally!

The modified part is actually modified.I think they machine the stock spring to make it thinner, which must make it weaker.Dont forget, these parts are made for individual riders as far as i can tell, thats why they want to know the cc/skill level etc.The one i have has been machined on a lathe, you can see the marks left by the cutting tools.
