Yes indeed Greeves, my late father was at El Escorial in 1970 for the ISDT with the Scottish ACU Team which represented Britain in the Silver Vase sector of the event.

The rider featured in the video clip is the USA rider Malcolm Smith (Husqvarna) who produced his own series of riding gear called MSR (Malcolm Smith Racing)

A good shot of British Trophy Team member, Mick Andrews, who rode an Ossa of course!

One of the best bike movies. I remember seeing it in the theater!

I guess I'll have that song in my head the rest of the day.

I wish there had been more trials in it. On Any Sunday 2 was worse IMHO.

About 10 seconds of Bernie.

I guess I'll have that song in my head the rest of the day.

You mean this?....

"On Any Sunday stretching up, reaching high

Leaving my Monday world behind

I fire my rockets and explode in the sky

Kick up my heels until I find, I'm Flyin'

Over my shoulder through the dust I'm calling

Run wild and catch me if you can

On Any Sunday I'm a flyin' man

On Any Sunday looking back on the crowd

From the far out place I found

Screaming inside of me, and laughing out loud

I'm losing contact with the ground, I'm flyin'

Over my shoulder through the dust I'm calling

Run wild and catch me if you can

On any Sunday I'm a flyin' man

Free as the wind, faster than time, reason and rhyme are running behind.

Tasting the sun Feeling the Earth, Knowing my worth and freeing my mind...

On Any Sunday, like the tail of a kite,

Flying and dancing in the wind.

I'd like to break the string and drift out of sight

I may not pass this way again..

I'm Flyin'

Over my shoulder through the dust I'm calling

Run wild and catch me if you can

On Any Sunday I'm a Flyin' Man"

Ed,

Now your education is complete!

It's a great movie, one of my all time favourites...

I recently decided to complete my education as well (after 26 years of trials) by buying the On Any Sunday Box 3 disc box set. Watched some of the 1st disc last night (shouldn't have - it was a Xmas present to myself) and went straight to the ISDT feature - excellent - and then the Elsinore race - why can't they have events like that now? Malcolm Smith's an inspiration even now...

I saw 'On Any Sunday' first time when I was 12 years old at a film showing run by the Melville Club in Dalkeith, near Edinburgh. I couldn't believe there had been such a great film made.

I still enjoy watching it, many years later, it is first class!

Definately Dalkeith B40RT, but they did do more than one film show and I think they used somewhere in Bonnyrigg at one time. If I remember correctly it was a cinema in Dalkeith that the club rented. Also I saw a fim at a Melville film night called 'Against the odds - Tribute to Saarinen' (Jarno Saarinen, the Yamaha factory racer) but that was later, probably around 1973. The old man used to get invites to go along to these film nights from either 'Mose' or Tom Dickie (Mr. East Fortune)
