mattylad
I think it is possible to fit a later mono electronic ignition to a twinshock TY250. Can anyone confirm if this is true and if it is a direct fit or is some engineering required.
woody
Yes you can but the firing position is different so you will have to elongate the slots in the mono backplate accordingly as it won't work in the same position as it does on the mono (can't remember which way this is) It will work using the TY twinshock flywheel. mattylad
Woody thanks you confirmed my suspision. Does the mono flywheel not fit as well or is the taper different? I am trying to establish what I need to by from the bay
woody
Yes, Mono flywheel taper is different so won't fit the crankshaft You just need the stator, CDI and HT coil
andy m
Does it have to be a later mono system or will any one do the job. I picked up a 85 mono in bits for the forks and f wheel for the Majesty. I would fit the ignition as well if possible. woody
Any one would do the job, the fitment of the stator is the same on them all. In fact, the stator plate itself is the same casting for both Mono and twinshock if I remember right, probably the TYZ too.
