Electric Scorpa?

Reading the article and looking at the bike. The picture is of the one that the French man is using as a prototype. Article says GasGas and pic looks like GasGas. But article also states that Scorpa will have one in production soon. So does that mean there are 2 electric bikes in the works?

The one in the pic looks like the cylinder and head were removed, also no longer would need radiator, no more carb or air box, no more need for header pipe, middle pipe or muffler. Weight savings all over the place. It looks as though the batteries and electric motors were mounted on top of the existing cases, and hooked to the crank shaft. (Maybe a straight shaft was fabbed up for this?) So this way there is still the flywheel and clutch and gears. Interesting, best of both worlds? I guess big thing would be sealing the area where the electrics hook up to the mechanics, and does it work like it should?

Definitely interesting. :(

Absolutely love it. This is the future for sure and you can forget 4 strokes!

Shame the French have to be the first real contender but I admire their vision. I remember a time us Brits would lead the way in technical innovation :(

hang on a second....arent electric bikes silent? a big part of riding is being able to hear the engine and know what its doing, if we cant hear it, how are we supposed to know what the bikes doing?

ill reserve judgment until ive actually ridden one, but at the moment, doesnt the idea seem flawed?

Nice dream, but no future (in my life time anyway) Sorry Atom but at this moment the short term future is 4 stroke. Anyone thought about diesel ??? Big noise about well over priced electric cars with 100 mile ranges before needing charging at the moment....... big deal, so they can go 50 miles and then they need to come home for a charge. So they spend half the allowance coming home for fuel. Early days yes, and the day will come when they can go 80 miles before coming home.... yippee... hope it's not in my life time. Good job I don't holiday in the UK, I may just limp to Weston Super Mare.............. Nice. :(

PS I won't go down the green road re the implications re building them,,, batteries etc etc... disposal etc etc etc .

Nice Dream? Electric trials bike are already a reality. The possibilities for electric trials bikes are endless, especially urban environments and even inside shopping centres. This is an area Honda should be working in (if they aren't already).

With regards to having to hear the engine, that simply wont be a problem. We already have kids learning to ride on Oset's. They will be the generation who will be use to riding electric bikes and will make the transition to bigger bikes easily.

This will definitely happen, and unless you curl over and snuffit in the next 10 years or so bo drinker, you will be alive to see them!

I'll get me coat. To be honest I didn't realise it had gone as far as it has. In a conversation at a trial today re the same subject and somewhere they were being tested there was a false engine noise being used as well. Not seen an Osset in the flesh yet, but must admit they do look the business on film I have seen. On the plus side I won't miss the 2t fumes when queueing. :(

PS. Look at Quantya on Youtube

Do you know how much electricity it will take to fully recharge a full size bike. In
