markshelley
Hi, I am new on here and have just purchased a TY80 for my lad which is in very nice condition. The first of what will probably be many question is;- The rubbery plastic threaded cap for the crankcase oil filler does not incorporate a dipstick which I am guessing it should do as there does not appear to be any other way to check oil level. Should it have one? If so, do you check the level with it screwed in fully or just resting on the crankcase?
axulsuv
To the best of my knowledge ... they did not have a dipstick . Best way to know where it should be is to change the oil , add recomended amount , look in hole after running bike for a moment , and with bike OFF , look in hole and see where it is ... if there are no leaks or excessive smoke , check it again when you put fuel in it again ... 2fargone
hi, the service manual says they have a dipstick but I have 2 bikes that just have the black plastic screw/bung without a dipstick and the genuine parts manual doesn't show one either so who knows? Drain the oil and refill with 500cc 10/30 oil.
