boysie
Hello everyone! I am in Hampshire and new to this site and new to Trials. I would like some input as to which bike I should buy? While I don't want to spend a fortune, I don't want to buy a load of trouble. I am a middle aged rider who rides a Fireblade on the road, and has done MX and Enduro some years ago, and have had bies since the sage of 13 so have a bit of time on bikes!! I have been told about a 2001 Gas Gas 280 for sale, but have also been told I should go for a 200-250cc bike.... Comments?
graeme17
Welcome to a fine sport, The advice you received with regard to engine size is spot on. I came from a similar background in terms of riding experience etc and bought a GG 320. it was great for mucking about on but was just too much in the burns and tight sections. When I changed to a smaller capacity bike my scores immediately improved by a huge margin. Best of luck
thumperbob2002
Hi I have just got into trials too- mid 40s- experience of enduro and road racing. I ride a KTM 950 supermoto on road and an r6 on track. I bought a cheap gas gas 280 pro and it was more scary than my old R1. Tried to sort it with a slow action throttle- did a bit but still too much for me- novice. Part exd it for a montesa 4rt 250- miles better fro me- much less scary too!! I would say go for max 250- the gas gas is so light even the 250 is a bit too much. cheers bob
